Can a PDF Table Become an Accurate Podcast?
A table can support a useful audio explanation when the script preserves its units, period and comparison baseline. Check every spoken figure against the source; a fluent summary is not proof of accurate extraction.
Which parts of the table belong in the audio?
Start with the question the listener needs answered. In this synthetic training example, the question is whether the share of enquiries becoming customers changed:
| Period | Enquiries | Customers | Conversion rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| June | 100 | 40 | 40% |
| July | 100 | 50 | 50% |
These are invented figures, not customer data. The table is the complete source for the calculation below. It contains no revenue, cost or profit evidence.
How do you explain the change correctly?
Candidate dialogue:
Host 1: In July, fifty of one hundred enquiries became customers. That is fifty percent, compared with forty percent in June.
Host 2: So the conversion rate rose by ten percentage points. Relative to June’s forty percent, that is a twenty-five percent increase.
Both comparisons can be correct: 50 − 40 = 10 percentage points, while (50 − 40) / 40 = 25%. “Ten percent growth” would blur two different measures. Neither comparison establishes why the change occurred, whether it will continue, or whether the business is more profitable. Keep those limits in the conversation.
What if the PDF is scanned or visually complex?
Inspect the extracted text before trusting it. Confirm row labels, columns, decimal marks and footnotes. If a table or chart is not represented clearly, prepare a plain-text explanation with its units and source context. This is manual preparation, not a claim that DIALØGUE offers OCR or understands every chart. Do not fill missing cells from general knowledge.
What should you approve before audio?
Use the outline review to decide which figures matter; use script review to check every spoken number against the table. Keep a note of the source page and reporting period. Ask whether “customers” means new accounts, paying customers or something else in the real document. Do not silently change that definition for a smoother sentence. After Fish Audio generates the speech, verify that both hosts still say the intended figures.
Read the PDF workflow or prepare an episode.
The worked examples are synthetic editorial examples, not a vendor benchmark or measured pronunciation result. Verify the generated audio before sharing.
